Best LED Grow Lights of 2020 Comparison & Review Test Using Laboratory Data

We're doing something no one has ever done before -- well, sort of. Each LED company who takes their craft seriously focuses on buying high quality components that will last a long time (read: not fail within 2 years) and have high efficiency/output ratings. To test LED grow lights comprehensively, you really need to send them to a laboratory that will will run the light through a battery of instrumentation. Each test from these companies is not cheap. For all the testing that we're requesting, the bill can run up to about $1,500 per light. This was no cheap endeavor, but we wanted to create the most unbiased, comprehensive, and informative comparison review test on the web. Therefore we needed to be using the best equipment available to do our testing.

HLG LED Grow Light 225w Elite Reviewed and Unboxed by Horticulture Lighting Group

Horticultural Lighting Groups (HLG) 225, by the same makers of the HLG Quantum Board style LED grow lights. 225 as in 225 watts it has. This is a cool little light that I got shipped to me by HLG and it’s really made to be a replacement for a lot of the 315 watt CMH lights out there. It will come with a fixed spectrum right at about 4000K, but it also has added 630nm and 660nm red and deep red so that you really get a full spectrum (good for both veg and flower). This HLG 225 LED light will work well if you have a 2’ x 2’, 3’ x 3’, or 4’ x 4’ size grow tent. If you’re flowering you probably want to stop at about a 3’ x 3’ but you can probably veg with this HLG LED up to about a 4’ x 4’ area.

Radix Laboratory Grade Rooting Hormone Stimulator for Seeds, Cuttings, Propagation, and Veg

Radix Laboratory Grade Rooting Hormone Stimulator for Seeds, Cuttings, Propagation, and Veg

Radix is a new rooting hormone stimulator that's now on the market in the US. And even though Radix is new to the market here in the US, it's actually been in use in Canada for a while. It's manufactured by a nutrient and fertilizer manufacturer up in Canada, and specifically one who works with some of the largest medicinal growing operations, including the ones that are hundreds of thousand square feet, hundreds of acres, and they all have custom blends for their nutrient mixes for hemp and medicinal plants. So, this is a rooting stimulator that's made for some of them, up there, but now is bottled and brought back down to the US. Radix rooting hormone is kind of a mixture of a lot of these really good rooting simulators out there, piecing together a lot of the components, and then, honestly, adding a little bit of humic and folic acids which really just help increase nutrient absorption without having a concentration of nutrients itself e.g., nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, etc.... It's primary design is to accelerate root growth in plants of all ages and sizes.

They've made LEDs that are extremely thin, simple yet powerful. These are literally like a no-frills LED. So, let me tell you a little story that not many people know about HLG. The thing is HLG was actually born out of two separate LED companies. One of them being Johnson Grow Lights by a guy named Stephen Johnson and the other one called Northern Grow Lights by a guy named Amit Chandra. Now, these guys were Stephen, being a grower, very experienced while Amit, being an engineer, they both had a real big fascination with LEDs and both their companies were focusing on COB LED lights. Chip-on-board for those of you not familiar.

Best Nutrients, Rooting Hormones, and Cloning Machines for Aeroponic Cloning of Plants

Best Nutrients, Rooting Hormones, and Cloning Machines for Aeroponic Cloning of Plants

For those who are new to plant cloning or are just starting on their cultivation journey, the concept of cloning can seem like an intimidating process to learn and can sometimes be scary and difficult. But it really isn’t, and it shouldn’t be. There’s two ways of propagating plants. There’s sexual reproduction or pollination, a process that involves crossing the male plant (or parts of) with a female in order to create seeds, which can then be planted to create genetic hybrids of the parent plant(s). The second method, cloning, also known as asexual reproduction, is where the rooted cutting from the parent plant is cultivated and allowed to grow, staying genetically identical to the plant it was taken from. This ability to help propagators create a new harvest with exact replicas of their best-performing plants has contributed to cloning gaining popularity among both commercial and home growers. That's understandable since this method can help you select and replicate desirable features of your best plants, including yield, grow time, flavor, and hardiness among others...to that end, we’ve rounded up the best of the best in devices and machines and other relevant tools in this list that you should definitely check out for your cultivation mission.

Hortilux SE Ceramic HPS 600w Grow Light Test & Unboxing Review

The Hortilux SE Ceramic HPS 600w Grow Light gives you that amazing spectrum that ceramics give you along with the intensity of the high pressure sodium 600 watt. So what I want do is turn it on and kind of show you guys the spectrum and what to expect out of this thing because it’s able to actually put out a much wider spectrum than a normal 600 watt HPS lamp and it encompasses a lot of the reds and it looks almost white to the eye, but you also still get a lot of blues in it.
