A: The typical light spread for a Gavita is 6x6 so it would adequately cover that area in the 8x8 tent, and would leave a peripheral area in which to work and canopy to grow. Another solution for the tent/gavita combo might be to add a light mover to cover an additional area and thus allow for a few more plants.

A: The Gavita Pro 1000 DE Complete Fixture 240v comes with a 240v plug. A 240v plug looks like the more common 120v plugs but the two "blades" are turned horizontal instead of the vertical orientation found on the 120v plug. An easier way to visualize the 240v plug would be to google "NEMA 6-15p". Happy growing!

A: The Foot Print of this complete fixture is 4 feet by 6 feet. The number of plants will depend on what style you would like to grow. Some people may grow one giant plant that they trellis out, others may prefer to grow a "sea" of small plants. Gorilla Grow Tents are certainly top of the line. However, there is a new product that we are recommending for tent grows with open DE fixtures. The Mammoth Gavita Grow Tent G1 was designed specifically for use with the Gavita DE fixtures. These tents are very comparable to the quality of the Gorilla Grow Tents. Growers House reviewed this product and produced a video about this tent.

A: The Gavita Pro 1000 DE Complete Fixture 240v requires 3' from the plant canopy to the light. We cannot determine the actual height of the ceiling required due to the variability of different plants growing to different heights. Happy growing!

A: There are two main 3 phase wiring used in the USA. One being 3 Phase 4 Wire 208Y/120V (Commercial buildings) and the other being 3 Phase 4 Wire 480Y/277V (Industrial buildings). If your building can supply the power to the 400V Gavita it would be the best choice in terms of using more lights on the same circuit without risking overload due to the reduced amperage used per fixture. Here is the amperage breakdown for a 1000W fixture at different voltages: 1000W @ 120V = 8.4 amp 1000W @ 240V = 4.2 amp 1000W @ 400V = 2.5 amp Besides being able to use more lights per circuit there is no real cost savings due to the fact that we all pay for electricity by the watt and that does not change no matter which voltage your system runs at. The Gavita Pro 1000 Double Ended is the most powerful and sophisticated indoor grow light available. In greenhouse areas where this unit is being used as supplemental lighting, it can cover up to a 10' x 10' area. If used as a primary light source, the Gavita Pro 1000 Double Ended fixture can cover up to a 6' x 6' area. This is the standard version--click here for the Gavita Pro 1000w E-Series.

The GAVITA Pro 1000 is the first 240 Volt electronic ballast that powers the professional Gavita Pro Plus 1000W 400V EL (electronic) Double Ended lamp. This lamp has the highest PAR light output, improved spectrum and the best light maintenance (>95% PAR light over one year of use). Being the most efficient 1000W horticultural lamp available and the only lamp specifically developed for electronic ballasts this is the 1000W lamp of choice for Dutch professional greenhouse growers. The GAVITA Pro 1000 is available as a complete fixture with the highly efficient professional HortiStar HR 96 1000 DE reflector or as a remote ballast. Being completely closed and solid state (no fans) with extremely low heat dissipation the remote ballast can be mounted close to your lamps, enabling safe and easy installation. Having your ballast close to your lamp reduces the amount of EMI (RF interference). Both ballasts are adjustable to 600/660/750/825/1000/1150 watt, enabling them to drive a wide range of EL lamps and boost them 10 or 15%, creating the highest output in the market.

  • Professional 1000 watt high frequency electronic ballast.
  • Including high efficiency Miro aluminum horticultural HortiStar HR96 reflector (96% efficiency).
  • Includes Gavita Pro Plus 1000 watt double ended EL lamp.
  • Microprocessor controlled with electronic safety circuit.
  • Very low heat dissipation and very low weight.
  • Only suitable for use with 1000 watt double ended EL lamps: No acoustic resonance, more than 10% grow light compared to traditional lamps and light maintenance after 5000 hours >95%. Electronics by Gavita.
  • Driver efficiency >95% and is adjustable to: 600/660/750/825/1150W.
  • Sealed housing with Gore-Tex ventilation plug.
  • Reflector easily replaceable.
  • Operates at 240 Volts.
  • 4.42 amps.

What are the benefits of Double Ended bulbs?

1. Double Ended HPS bulbs degrade slower than traditional single ended HPS bulbs. In fact, after 10,000 hours double ended lamps will still output approximately 90% of their original intensity.

2. Double Ended HPS bulbs are more stable than traditional single ended HPS bulbs, and this allows them to have a 10% increase in light intensity and PAR output over traditional single ended HPS bulbs.

3. Double Ended HPS bulbs emit more UV and IR light than traditional single ended HPS bulbs, increasing the potency and essential oils of oil producing plants.

Mediocre, Unreliable Review by Flower People Say
Overall Rating
We bought more than a couple hundred of these for a large commercial operation. They are continually shutting themselves off due to poorly designed heat dissipation and overheating. The units are designed to shut off at 95 degrees F, which they can easily get up to in an hour of operation. We also have regular complete failure of these ballasts. We are constantly battling lamp failures with these. Incredible waste of an extremely large amount of money. (Posted on 2/11/2016)
good but drop RH a bunch in my room Review by trashman
Overall Rating
ok i went from 4 - 600w and 2 - 1000w in air cooled hydrofarm 8" vented hoods to 4 - 1000w gavitas in a 10' x 10' room. RH dropped from 50% to 17%. added hydrofarm humidifier and custom fit the lights into my hoods. less than 5% loss of light measured but now i can use them at 1000+ watts and not bake the room. i do clean the glass every few days. easy task to do to use these lights to their full potential in MY particular situation. increase in yield by 20 to 25% first run and less energy used, 20 amps vs 30+ with old lights. also found out a lot about plant vapor pressure deficit while changing to these lights as they did change MY environment in MY room. i have a 12000 btu split unit (way to small for 4 open air 1000w lights)and sealed room w co2 and all digitally controlled environment. Best lights I have ever used Review by HG Man
Overall Rating
I switched out my setup for these since they have a lower RF than other ballasts out there as the ballast is mounted directly to the hood so there is no cord. My neighbor had a ham radio setup and my old ballasts and hoods would interfere with this broadcasting. Anyhow I bought 32 of these hoods and I have to say I will never go back to any other type of setup. These hoods I swear put off a 6' x 6' footprint effectively, I have never had a harvest so good. With 32 lights my "tomato" production was insane, I managed to pull 112 lbs of "tomatoes" off of the 32 light setup averaging 3.5 lbs per light. Some trays were over this amount by up to 1.5 lbs, while other more "sensitive" smaller yielding genetics were 1.5 to 2.0 lbs. Either way these guys have got something special here, Gavita's are gnarly sick... Don't take my words lightly, get yourself some Gavita's and never look back. (Posted on 4/1/2014)
Best light for sealed setups Review by Gene
Overall Rating
I've been running adjust a wings in a sealed room for close to 3 years. Running two 1000's over a 4 x 8. Approximately same heat as my adjust a wings, but my plants are growing noticibly faster and I yielded just shy of 10% more with these per tray. Awesome lights. Make sure to keep these about 6 inches higher than adjust a wings from your canopy though. (Posted on 3/20/2014)
