CMH Grow Lights Are More Like Daylight

CMH and CDM lamps are a relatively new source of High Intensity Displacement (HID) light. They are a more efficient variation of the Metal Halide lamp. CMH lamps use 20 percent of the power required by incandescent light bulbs with the same output—80 to 117 lumens per watt. Lower power draw holds true regardless of wattage, so the savings apply whether you’re using a 315w CMH grow light, a 630w CMH, or a 1,000w CMH bulb.

What makes a CMH light one of the best indoor grow lamps is its ability to retain its color spectrum better than most other gas discharge lamps, and to more consistently light a given area for a longer time before needing replacement. CMH lamps benefit from a ceramic tube instead of the fused quartz tube in earlier MH lamps.

Indoor grow rooms become nature’s best imitation of a sunny day with CHM grow lights. The bluish light generated by the CMH bulb, with a color rendering index, or CRI, of up to 96, is close to daylight.
