Growers House staff notes on the gavita pro 1700e led grow light
The Growers House staff has done its research and spoken with Gavita lighting engineers to get you data not published anywhere else. Gavita installs about 50% more diodes than its next closest competitor for commercial LED grow lighting. This is an important feature since the quantity and quality of diodes are the two most costly aspects of a LED grow light.
The Gavita Pro 1700e LED uses over 3,300 diodes while the next closest brand uses slightly over 2,200 diodes. Gavita Pro 1700e LED grow light drivers are set to run at very low milliamps to assure less color shift and longer diode life. We estimate that Gavita Pro 1700e LED fixtures will last 20,000 to 30,000 hours.
Gavita 1700e LED Grow Light Overview
The Gavita Pro 1700e LED fixture operates at 645 watts with an output of 1700 µmol s-1 PAR and an impressive efficacy of 2.6 µmol s-1 per watt. The Pro 1700e delivers broad, intense light coverage with its 8 passively cooled LED bars allowing you to use it in low rooms, vertical racks, over benches, or even in tents.
This powerful, full-spectrum light source is intended for full-term plant growth from the vegetative stage to the higher-light-requiring bloom and finishing stages.
Built with premium Philips drivers, Samsung white LEDs, and Osram deep-red LEDs, this fixture uses only the highest-quality components. Power cords and E-Series adapter (for digital controllability via EL1 or EL2 master controller) are sold separately.
The Gavita 1700e LED grow light fixture is dimmable to 50% without any loss of efficiency using the Gavita E-Series LED Adapter and Gavita Master Controllers. The Gavita E-Series LED Adapter - 120-277 V (#906151, sold separately) is required for each fixture when using the controller; non-controlled fixtures simply operate at 100%.
The Gavita Pro 1700e LED fixture and Gavita E-Series LED Adapter are FCC compliant, UL1598, and IP66 rated for use in wet environments with a maximum ambient operating temperature of 40°C. Sun Grip® light hangers included. Dimensions: 44 in x 44 in x 2.5 in. Weight: 28.4 lbs.

Gavita 1700e LED E-Series Controllability & Setup
The Gavita Pro 1700e LED grow light is dimmable from 50% to 100% while maintaining efficiency. Dim using the Gavita E-Series LED Adapter and Gavita EL Master Controller to create ideal lighting levels as needs change from veg to bloom for various crops throughout their growth cycles.
The Gavita E-Series LED Adapter – 120-277 V (sold separately) is required for each fixture when using the controller; non-controlled fixtures simply operate at 100%. You can connect up to 500 – 1,000 LED fixtures, depending on the controller, using a setup with daisy-chained splitters.
What is the difference between Gavita 1650e and 1700e LED fixtures?
The Gavita Pro 1650e LED grow light had plexiglass over the LEDs that tended to collect water condensation from humid grow rooms. In the 1700e, they fully removed the plexiglass, which also increased the total output to the plant canopy. Gavita also redesigned the LEDs to have one heat fin instead of two. The two-fin design was another area where water would collect and stagnate.
Can you get a lighting rebate with the gavita pro 1700e?
When it comes to using this light in a commercial or licensed growing facility, no other LED light has more accreditations and compliant certifications to pass state and country safety inspections, along with getting substantial rebates from your local power company. Depending on your local electric company, these rebates can range from 10-50% of the cost of the fixture.
Some ratings include: IP66 Wet rating, UL8800 compliant for wet environments, FCC compliant for non-interference, ETL certified to ensure high levels of electrical engineering, and DLC listed meaning it's designed to be rebate eligible. If you're interested in getting a lighting rebate, fill out our lighting rebate form here.
how much yield can i get from the gavita pro 1700e?
The Gavita Pro 1700e LED grow light is extremely efficient at 2.7 umol/J. This means that with it's 645w of LED power the average grower can expect to yield approximately 1.3 - 2 lbs (590 - 900 grams) of dried plant matter.
What LEDs does the Gavita pro 1700e use?
The Gavita Pro 1700e LED grow light uses a combination of top bin Samsung and Osram diodes.
What is the gavita uvr led booster light for?
The Gavita UVR LED booster light is specifically used to increase UV-A to your plant canopy. UV-A in small quantities causes plants to secrete more resin to protect themselves from the slightly harmful rays. Done properly, using UV-A can increase the resin production and potency of your flowers and buds. You can use the Gavita UVR LED as a standalone light or mount it directly to the chassis of the Gavita Pro 1700e.
what is the coverage area and how high should you hang it from your plants?
We recommend hanging the Gavita Pro 1700e about 12 to 36 inches above your plants. At 36 inches above your plants the Gavita Pro 1700e will cover about a 6' x 6' area in veg. When in flower we recommend hanging it about 12 to 24 inches above your plants covering about a 5' x 5' area.
