What Dyna-Gro Mag Pro Adds to a Complete Feed

This is a supplement and the label is explicit about it. The analysis is 2-15-4, so phosphorus dominates while nitrogen and potash sit low enough to avoid disturbing whatever base feed is already running. Dyna-Gro pair that phosphorus with magnesium and sulfur, and the combination is what the product is named for. One honest gap: neither Dyna-Gro nor any distributor publishes the magnesium and sulfur percentages, so no figure is claimed here for either. Rates depend entirely on the system. A recirculating hydroponic reservoir takes one to two teaspoons per gallon. A non-recirculating system takes half a teaspoon per gallon. Hand watering on a continuous feed runs a quarter to a half teaspoon per gallon. The size stocked here is the 1 gallon container.

Reading a Magnesium and Sulfur Deficiency Before Dosing

Reach for this when the symptoms and the stage agree. Interveinal yellowing on older leaves during heavy flowering is the classic pattern. It turns up most often in coco, or in soft water where the base feed never carried enough of either element. Magnesium moves within the plant, pulled out of old growth and sent to new. That is why the bottom of the canopy goes first. Sulfur behaves the other way round and shows on new leaves instead. Knowing which end of the plant is affected tells you which element is short before any bottle is opened. The phosphorus load is the reason to be careful. Stacking this on a bloom booster that is already phosphorus-heavy is how growers lock out zinc and iron. The symptom that follows looks like a different deficiency entirely. Pick one phosphorus source and stay with it.
