The 13-0-0 Fertilizer Analysis, Line by Line
Total nitrogen is 13 percent and nitrate nitrogen is also 13 percent. Those two figures being identical is the entire point of this product. Ammoniacal nitrogen reads zero on the guaranteed analysis. Calcium sits at 18 percent alongside it. The chemistry is calcium nitrate in its trihydrate form, and the label caps water of hydration at 25 percent. Compare that with the common greenhouse calcium nitrate at 15.5 percent nitrogen and 19 percent calcium. Those grades carry around one percent of their nitrogen as ammonium, which looks small until it is running continuously through a crop. Ammonium drives vegetative response and competes with calcium at the root surface. Taking it out is how growers push a crop generative in a production block without cutting the calcium supply. The trade is a lower total nitrogen figure, so the rest of the recipe has to carry more of the load. The material is mined in the United States and it is free of chlorine and sodium.
Tank Behaviour and What Ammonium Free Actually Gives You
Solubility behaviour is the second reason to pay for a grade like this. It dissolves immediately into a clear, water-white solution and leaves no visible residue in the bottom of the tank. Sediment matters beyond appearance, because what settles out is material you paid for and never fed, and it is also what clogs filters and emitters. A cleaner salt means a stock tank that needs less scrubbing between batches. Keep the usual calcium nitrate discipline regardless of grade. It does not go into the same concentrated stock tank as a phosphate or a sulfate. Calcium phosphate and calcium sulfate both precipitate out of concentrate. Two stock tanks, A and B, with calcium on its own side, is the standard answer. Store the bag closed and dry, since this salt is hygroscopic and will draw moisture from a humid room and cake. One bag is fifty pounds and a pallet holds forty of them.
