Coco Flex 8L: Compressed Coco in Its Own Grow Bag

This is CANNA's coco pith pressed into a flat disk and sealed inside its own open-top grow bag. The larger of the two sizes carries a #2 on the print. It ships at 7 1/8 x 9 1/8 x 2 1/4 in and stacks flat on a shelf like a stack of books. Once it takes on water, it swells to about 7 1/2 x 9 3/4 x 6 1/2 in, roughly two gallons of medium. Full expansion uses about 6 to 7 L of solution. CANNA lists the washed coco at an EC below 1.0 mS/cm and a pH of 5.5 to 7.0, with total aeration under 20%. Two dripper holes are pre-punched in the top of the block. The bag is UV-stabilized recyclable plastic with high sides that stop overflow. Drainage holes along the bottom give consistent dry-backs without anyone cutting slits. Each shipping box holds 20 bags.

Expanding the Coco Grow Bag With Drippers or by Hand

Most facilities stage the boxes outside the room and carry the sealed bags in, which keeps the clean zone clean. Set each bag in its spot and push the drippers into the pre-punched holes. Then run several short irrigation cycles with CANNA Coco A and B until the disk has fully swollen and runoff appears. Slow application gives a more even expansion than one long flood. Without drippers, pour the solution over the top in a few stages, which wastes less through the drainage holes. Setting a few catch trays under sample bags gives runoff readings without disturbing the rest of the row. Once the bag is fully expanded, rooted cuttings go straight in. The medium arrives washed but unfed, so the first irrigations have to carry nutrients rather than plain water. This two-gallon size suits plants taken to a bigger finish, or rooms running fewer plants per square foot. A tightly packed canopy of small plants usually does better in the one-gallon version, which dries back faster.
