Chikamasa B-500SKF With an Antibacterial Fluorine Blade

Black grip, straight blade, and a coating that does two jobs at once. The blade is high-quality Japanese stainless, heat-treated for a razor-sharp edge. Over it, Chikamasa applies an antibacterial fluorine coating. That coating keeps over 90% of germs from breeding on the blade after 24 hours. The same fluorine layer reduces resin and sap build-up, just as it does on the orange coated models. The blade is finished with an oil chosen to be less harmful to the body. The cutting length is 35 mm on a frame of 155 mm, identical to the rest of the B-500 family. Outer faces are ground round so the blade back does not bruise stems or finished flower. The grip is soft elastomer resin over a steel core, and a cushioned stop absorbs the shock of each close. A patented stainless steel rivet at the pivot reduces friction and resists corrosion.

Antibacterial Scissors for Cloning and Clean Benches

Propagation is where this pair makes the most sense. Taking cuttings from a mother room means dozens of cuts into fresh, open tissue, often across several plants in a row. A blade that resists germ growth between sessions adds a margin of hygiene to that routine. It is a margin, not a replacement for sanitising. Dip or wipe the blade in isopropyl between plants anyway, especially when moving from a suspect plant to a healthy one. The straight edge makes square, clean cuts on soft stems, and the rounded spine will not crush them on the way through. At the trim table it behaves like any coated B-500, shedding resin and working through fan leaf and bud bases. Avoid abrasive pads when cleaning, since scrubbing wears the coating that gives the pair its purpose. There is no spring, so your fingers open the blades each time. Keep it off woody stems, which chip the fine tip and scuff the coating.
