Clonex Mist Concentrate Quart: One Bottle, One Gallon of Mist
This is the concentrate version of Clonex Mist, not the ready-to-use spray, and that difference matters before you pull the cap. HydroDynamics calls for one part concentrate to three parts clean water, so this quart makes one gallon of finished mist. Once diluted it is the same Clonex Mist sold in spray bottles. That means a blend of amino acids and mineral nutrients for mother plants and fresh cuttings. It contains no rooting hormone. The finished spray is extremely light on nutrients, with the ready-to-use label listing 0.00059% nitrate nitrogen from calcium nitrate and dipotassium phosphate. That is by design, since cuttings have no roots to take up a real feed. Mixing your own spray bottles cuts down on the stack of small ready-to-use bottles in the cloning area. Mix only what you will use over a round or two of cuttings. Label the bottle clearly so nobody sprays straight concentrate by mistake.
Using a Root Promoter From Mother Plant to Rooted Clone
As a root promoter, it works on both ends of the cloning process. HydroDynamics recommends a foliar feed on the mother plants two to three days before taking cuttings. After that, make a clean diagonal cut below a node, dip the stem in rooting gel and set it into the rooting medium. Mist the new cuttings lightly as soon as they are in the tray, then again every two days for two or three applications. Stop once the clones are transplanted. A humidity dome keeps the leaves from drying between sprays, and the mist helps the cutting hold turgor while roots form. It pairs with Clonex Rooting Gel, though the mist itself is hormone-free and works with or without it. Heavy spraying that leaves the medium soggy works against you. Aim for a light coat on the leaves rather than runoff.
