Why GeoPot Grow Bags Tan Hold a Cooler Root Zone

Reflectivity is what this pot is built around, and in a greenhouse that is what matters. Tan reflects rather than absorbs, so the fabric wall and the media behind it sit cooler under glass or direct sun. Roots above roughly 85 degrees Fahrenheit stop taking up water efficiently, and a dark pot in August gets there easily. Everything else carries over from the line: nonwoven polypropylene, bonded polyester thread, quad-stitched seams. Sizes run 1 through 400 gallons and the pack holds ten. Soil volume by size is the figure a bulk media delivery actually turns on. A 3 gal pot holds 0.45 cubic feet and a 45 gal holds 5.96 cubic feet. Per cubic yard that is 59 of the small one against four and a half of the large. Two limits are worth naming on this fabric specifically. Handles come only up to the 45 gal size on this fabric. And tan shows staining from nutrient solution and algae readily, so a used pot looks worse than it performs.

Where an Air Pruning Fabric Planter Belongs in the Season

An air pruning fabric planter earns its keep when the root ball reaches the wall, not before. Until then it behaves like any container, and the aeration advantage is sitting unused. That is why most growers transplant up through two or three of these rather than starting a seedling in the finishing size. Outdoors the tan fabric is the obvious pick on a patio or a rooftop where the pot takes afternoon sun directly. Under glass it suits a summer crop more than a winter one, since the same reflectivity that helps in July does nothing in January. Set them on pallets or on a gravel bed rather than straight onto concrete. Concrete conducts heat into the base and blocks the drainage the fabric is there to provide. Irrigation runs shorter and more often than it would in plastic. The sidewall gives up moisture as well as the surface, so a single long soak drains before the plant uses it. Growers in dry climates often pair these with a mulch layer to hold the top inch. Washing between crops works, though the tan fabric never comes back to its original colour. Judge a used pot by seam integrity rather than by how it looks.

Key Features

  • Reflective tan fabric: Reflects sun under glass or in the open, where media temperature limits uptake.
  • Line construction: Nonwoven polypropylene, bonded polyester thread and quad-stitched seams across the whole line.
  • Square base: Flat sides pack edge to edge on a bench instead of leaving the gaps round pots create.
  • Self-supporting rim: The folded and stitched top holds shape, so an empty pot stands while you fill it.
  • Seventeen sizes: Propagation volumes through to bed scale, so a whole rotation runs on one fabric.
  • Volume per size: Cubic feet and pots per cubic yard are given, which is what a bulk media delivery is calculated from.
  • Ten to a pack: Fills a row in one go rather than arriving as singles.
