Reading the Label on BC Bloom
The three numbers in the name are the start rather than the whole story. Guaranteed analysis is 1.0% total nitrogen, 4.0% available phosphate and 7.0% soluble potash. Behind those sit 0.852% magnesium and 1.37% sulfur, which is a serious magnesium figure for a flowering part. Then comes the micronutrient package: 0.0072% boron, 0.00268% copper, 0.024% manganese, 0.00012% molybdenum and 0.0139% zinc. The manganese, zinc and copper are EDTA chelates. That matters in a reservoir, because a chelated micro stays available across a wider pH band than a sulfate. Potassium nitrate, magnesium sulfate, monopotassium phosphate and potassium sulfate carry the rest of the load. What the label deliberately lacks is nitrogen. One percent is a flowering figure by design, and the vegetative part of the line is where nitrogen comes from instead.
How a Three Part Nutrient System Uses This Bottle
This is one leg of three, and the schedule is simpler than most lines manage. Through flowering, Technaflora specify one part Boost and one part BC Bloom, at a teaspoon of each per gallon of water. The Grow bottle replaces this one during the vegetative stage, while Boost runs through both stages. Something unusual sits behind that. Both the Grow bottle and this one carry a full micronutrient complement, where many lines put the micros in a single bottle. Boost is what adds the calcium and the iron. On pH the detail matters. Technaflora describe the line as formulated, and specifically not buffered, to minimise pH fluctuation. That is not the same as a claim that no adjustment is ever needed. Expect less drift than a comparable line, not none at all. The same formulation runs across every size offered. It goes from a 1 L bottle up to a 205 L drum, with a 500 mL bottle and a 1000 L tote also made. Salt accumulation is low, which is the other half of why this line survives in recirculating systems.
Key Features
- 1-4-7 analysis: One percent nitrogen, four phosphate and seven potash on the label.
- 0.852% magnesium: A real magnesium figure, alongside 1.37% sulfur on the panel.
- Full micro package in this bottle: Boron, copper, manganese, molybdenum and zinc, not just in one part.
- EDTA chelated micros: Manganese, zinc and copper chelated, so they hold across pH swings.
- One to one with the Boost part: A teaspoon of each per gallon through the flowering stage.
- Formulated, not buffered: It minimises pH fluctuation rather than removing it.
- Low salt accumulation: Produces low salt build up in a system.
- Eight sizes made: From a 500 mL bottle to a 1000 L tote, same formulation throughout.
