Dehumidifiers

A grow room dehumidifier keeps relative humidity on target after irrigation and through lights-off, when moisture spikes in a sealed room. Pick a portable unit for tents and small rooms, an overhead Quest or Anden to keep floors clear, or a commercial unit for flower halls.

Grow Room Dehumidifier Options: Portable, Overhead and Commercial

A grow room dehumidifier pulls the water plants transpire back out of the air, so humidity holds steady through lights-off. This collection covers Quest, Anden, Ideal-Air, Active Air and Subcooled units from 30 to 876 pints a day. To size one first, see our guide to the best dehumidifiers for grow rooms....

Types of Dehumidifiers for Growing

Portable Floor Units

The Ideal-Air Pro Series runs 60 to 180 pints a day at 86 F and 80% RH. Each has an internal pump and defrost down to 41 F. The Quest Hi-E Dry 195 removes 192 pints at 80 F and 60% RH on casters. Pick a Pro 60 for a tent, or a 180 for a full room.

Overhead and Ductable Units

Quest Dual 105, 155 and 205 hang overhead or duct in from a separate space. The 205 pulls 200 pints at 80 F and 60% RH at 7.7 pints per kWh on a 10 amp, 115 V circuit. Anden grow-optimized models run 70 to 320 pints and hang from their own kits.

Commercial and Split Systems

The Quest 506 is a 500 pint unit on 230 V single phase at 8.1 pints per kWh. The Quest 876 removes 876 pints, and the Anden 710 pairs variable speed with large rooms. The Subcooled Climadry pulls 705 pints and connects to a standard 5 ton condenser.

How Growers Use a Grow Room Dehumidifier

Run it hardest after irrigation and at lights-off, when humidity spikes. Pair it with a Green Air humidity controller or the Quest DEH 3000R humistat, which the 506 needs. Route condensate to a drain, and change filters on schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size dehumidifier for a grow room?

Size it to water, not floor area. Nearly everything you irrigate leaves the room again as moisture, so daily water in sets the pints per day you need. Compare units at the same test point, and leave headroom for lights-off. Our sizing guide walks through the math.

How many pints per day does a dehumidifier really remove?

It depends on the test point. Ideal-Air now rates units at 80 F and 60% RH. A model once rated 120 pints at 86 F and 80% RH now reads 60 pints. Quest lists the 205 at 200 pints at 80 F and 60%, and 135 pints at 75 F and 50%.

Where to place a dehumidifier in a grow room?

Overhead units like the Quest Dual series hang above the canopy or sit outside the room and duct in, keeping aisles clear. Floor units need a clear intake and a drain path, and the Hi-E Dry 195 pump lifts water 17 ft. Mount the controller where it reads average room air.
