What Humboldt Nutrients Verde Adds During Vegetative Growth
Verde is Spanish for green, and the name tells you what this bottle is for. It is a concentrated nitrogen supplement, guaranteed at 16-1-2, with all of that nitrogen supplied as urea. Secondary and micronutrients come along too: 0.75% magnesium, 0.25% iron and 0.20% zinc. Humboldt derives it from urea, Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed, phosphoric acid, sulfate of potash, and zinc, ferric and magnesium sulfates. The seaweed contributes trace elements and growth compounds, even though the nitrogen does most of the visible work. The label rate is 1–2 tsp per gallon of water or nutrient solution. Start at the low end in early veg and watch new growth for a day or two before stepping up. Leaves darkening to a deep, glossy green with clawed tips are the sign to back off. Most growers run it from rooted clone through stretch, then taper it out as flowers set. It can go on as a light foliar spray early in the light cycle, well before any flowers form. Add it after the base nutrients and check EC, because this much nitrogen moves the reading quickly.
Using a Crop Growth Supplement Without Overdoing the Nitrogen
The real use case is a base feed that runs short on nitrogen during the fastest weeks of veg. A few teaspoons here lets you lift nitrogen without raising everything else at the same time. That makes it handy for heavy feeders, big containers of fresh soil that stall early, and mother plants being cut hard. It is not a complete base nutrient, and it carries almost no phosphorus or potassium. Urea nitrogen converts in the root zone, which suits soil, coco and drain-to-waste better than long-running recirculating reservoirs. Earlier Humboldt labels also advised against using it in recirculating systems. Carrying it too far into flower tends to keep plants leafy at the expense of flower development. The gallon suits a tent or small room through several veg cycles. The larger jugs are for rooms mixing big reservoirs or feeding many mothers year-round. Pair it with Humboldt's base line or your own, and keep the extra nitrogen to veg.
Key Features
- 16-1-2 Nitrogen Supplement: A concentrated urea nitrogen boost for the fastest-growing weeks of veg.
- Magnesium, Iron and Zinc: Micronutrients that support chlorophyll and new leaf growth alongside the nitrogen.
- Ascophyllum nodosum Seaweed: Seaweed brings trace elements and natural growth compounds to the blend.
- Low Label Rate: One to two teaspoons per gallon keeps a bottle going through many reservoirs.
- Soil and Hydro: Works in soil, coco and drain-to-waste hydro, or as a light foliar feed.
- Pairs With Any Base: Lifts nitrogen without changing the rest of an existing feed chart.
