Loading Clone Collars Into a Cloner Lid

Take the cutting first, and dip or treat the stem the way your rooting routine calls for. Open the slit with your fingers and slide the stem through until the lower leaves sit just above the collar. Press the collar into its site so it sits flush with the lid. Check from below that the bare stem reaches down into the spray. Leave enough stem exposed for roots to form along it, and keep leaves clear of the water. Fill every open site with a collar, even an empty one, to keep the lid closed to light. Handle the collars with clean hands or gloves so the sterile surface stays that way. Between runs, inspect each collar and replace any that no longer grip a stem firmly.
