What Is in the Active Aqua Chiller Fitting Kit for AACH10

This kit holds the parts that connect the 1/10 HP chiller to a three-quarter reservoir loop. Inside are two 3/4 in fittings, two worm drive hose clamps, one replacement fuse and two rubber collars for the inlet and outlet. The fittings thread onto the inflow and outflow ports on the back of the chiller. Each rubber collar seats between a fitting and its port and forms the seal that keeps the joint dry. The clamps lock the tubing onto each fitting so pump pressure cannot work the hose loose. The fuse is a spare for the compartment under the power cord socket. The AACH10 is rated for 132 to 396 GPH of flow and a reservoir of 10 to 40 gallons. Its maximum working pressure is 10 PSI, so the whole circuit runs at low pressure. Active Aqua pairs this chiller with its 160, 250 and 400 GPH pumps. The kit replaces lost or worn parts, or sets up the chiller to run on a three-quarter line.

Fitting the Kit to an AACH10 Chiller

Unplug the AACH10 chiller before working on the ports. Thread each fitting on by hand with a fresh collar in place, then snug it without forcing the threads. A thin film of silicone lubricant on the collar helps it seat and can stop a weeping inlet. Slide a clamp onto each tube before pushing the tube over its fitting. Run the inflow tube from the submersible pump in the reservoir to the chiller inlet. Let the outflow tube hang freely in the reservoir so chilled water returns without restriction. Keep the pump fully submerged and confirm water moves through both lines before switching the chiller on. Tighten each clamp where the tube covers the fitting, then check every joint again after the first hour. If the chiller shuts down and stays dark, unplug it and pull the notched fuse slide straight out. Look for melted terminals before fitting the spare, since a blown fuse can point to a wiring fault. Keep the spare parts near the reservoir so a swap takes minutes during a hot week.
