Anden A710V1 Dehumidifier: 710 Pints a Day With VLGR Control

The Anden A710V1 dehumidifier is a large-capacity refrigerant unit built for indoor growing rooms. It removes 710 pints of water a day at 80°F and 60 percent RH. Efficiency is rated at 3.0 L/kWh, or 6.35 pints per kWh. Anden's VLGR technology modulates the refrigeration system based on the moisture load in the room. That load matching gives tighter control of VPD, especially under late flower conditions. Air crosses a copper-tube, aluminum-fin coil with an i-coat finish before it is reheated and discharged. The blower moves 1,760 CFM in free air and still holds 1,510 CFM against 0.6 inches of water column static pressure. Power is 208-240V single phase at 19.6 A and 4,706 W. A 10 ft SJT cord ends in a NEMA L6-30P locking plug on a 30 A breaker. For hard-wiring, Anden calls for 10 gauge copper wire. Total heat load into the room is 16,168 Btu/h. The cabinet measures 44.875 in wide, 34.4 in high and 31.7 in long, and it weighs 360 lb. Hanging brackets are built into the cabinet. A 29.5 x 31.5 x 1.75 in MERV 11 filter, part 5852, protects the coil. The Model A77 control, a P-trap with vent tee and fittings, and 30 ft of thermostat wire come in the box. Anden covers all parts, including the refrigeration system, for five years.

Installing a Variable Speed Dehumidifier in a Grow Room

Plan at least 18 in of clearance on the inlet side and around the cabinet. Do not aim the outlet of one unit at the inlet of another. Keep the unit away from HVAC returns and supply registers so the two systems do not fight. To hang it, run 3/8 or 1/2 in threaded rod to the built-in brackets. Double-nut the bottom of each rod with a flat washer, and use a single nut on top. Vibration isolators are optional where noise matters. Level the unit front to back and side to side before connecting the drain. The cabinet runs under negative pressure, so it needs the included vented drain and P-trap. The vent must rise higher than the filter frame. Run the drain line with a constant downward slope to a floor drain or condensate pump. Support the line so it cannot dip or sag, and never submerge its end in water. Do not double trap the line, and prime the trap once installation is complete. Add a vacuum break when the drain feeds a condensate pump or joins other drain lines. Floor installs use the 5789 leveling feet kit, and ducted installs use duct kit 5859. The A77 sets humidity between 35 and 80 percent RH and turns the unit off 3 percent below the setting. Any external control with a dry contact closure can replace it. Anden rates the operating range from 60°F at 40 percent RH to 85°F at 80 percent RH.
