How Aptus Bloom Boost Is Dosed and What Drives It
Three elements do the work and Aptus name all three. Potassium goes into the structure of flower and fruit tissue. Sulfur sits in the amino acids and in the aromatic compounds that come off a finished crop. Boron is there for cell wall synthesis and for cell division, which is why a shortage of it shows up as deformed growing points. Aptus describe the product as targeting trichome, terpene, flavonoid and oil production rather than raw mass. In the feed the rate is 1 to 2 ml per gallon, which is 0.2 to 0.5 ml per litre. Timing starts in the second week of flowering and the product can run right through to harvest without hurting quality. That is unusual, since most bloom additives want stopping a fortnight out.
Biofilm, Deep Water Culture and the Foliar Spray Route
This is where a grower has to think. The product is organic, and organic material in a warm recirculating tank grows biofilm. Aptus are direct about it and advise adding it one to two days before a water change so the residue leaves with the old solution. Left sitting for longer it will film the tank walls and start blocking drip emitters. A line cleaner run through the system on a schedule handles what remains. Deep water culture is the harder case, and Aptus recommend the foliar spray route only for the first fortnight of flower there. The foliar rate is 4 ml per gallon, or 1 ml per litre, which is roughly double the feed strength. Spray at lights off or shortly before, and stop foliar work once the flowers are dense enough to hold water. Do not hold it in a reservoir beyond two or three days, and that applies equally to a static tank. Shake the bottle before measuring, since a biological product settles out between uses.
