Why the Athena Pro Mix Kit Exists

Weighing powder is the weak link in a dry fertiliser programme. A scoop is not a measurement, and a partially mixed pouch is not a uniform product. Athena's answer is to dissolve a whole pouch into a fixed volume and measure the liquid instead. Each kit holds three 2 lb pouches: Pro Core, Pro Grow and Pro Bloom. Each pouch comes with its own one gallon jug. The jugs hold one gallon each, and the kit also exists in a two and a half gallon version. The method is a pouch into its matching jug, fill with water, and shake until fully dissolved. What comes out is something you draw from, rather than a powder you weigh each time. Three separate jugs keeps Core, Grow and Bloom from ever meeting undiluted. Refills come as 10 lb Pro Line boxes once the pouches run out.

Turning Powder Into a Liquid Concentrate, Jug by Jug

A liquid concentrate is repeatable in a way a weighed powder is not. The same jug, the same fill line and the same shake gives the same strength every batch. That is what matters when a room runs on a dosing pump or a batch tank. Draw a measured volume from the jug into the reservoir and top with water. Label each jug, because the three look similar once they are mixed. Shake before every draw, since anything settled reads differently from a stirred jug. Mixed solutions do not keep forever, so make up what a fortnight will use. This is a starter format, and a commercial room will move to the boxes quickly. The kit gives the jugs and the method, which is most of what you are paying for. Anyone already running Athena from boxes with their own jugs does not need it.
