How Athena Pro Balance Is Mixed and Dosed

This is a dry pH up, and the whole point is that it becomes a liquid before it goes anywhere near a crop. Mix it as a concentrate in clean water at a quarter to one pound per gallon, which is 40 to 120 grams per litre. Then dose that concentrate into the fertiliser solution until the target pH is reached. The wide band exists because source water alkalinity varies enormously between sites. Calibrate the pH meter before measuring, since an uncalibrated probe makes the whole exercise guesswork. Mixing causes a thermal reaction that heats the solution, so allow time to dissolve and cool. Adding hot concentrate to a tank is how people overshoot a set point. The bag here is 25 lb, and a 10 lb box is also made. Protective gear is a respirator, eye protection and covered skin, not just gloves. It can also be applied through an air or misting system where that suits the layout.

Built for a Fertigation System Rather Than a Bucket

A fertigation system wants a liquid stock it can draw a fixed ratio from. That is what a concentrate gives you, and it is why a dry pH up is sold this way at all. Dosatron and Netaflex style injectors are the named use case, and the mixing ratio is left adjustable on purpose. Hold the concentrate strength constant and let the injector ratio do the adjusting. Changing both at once is how a room loses track of what it is actually feeding. Two storage rules matter more than the rate does. The powder and its solution are corrosive to most metals, and aluminium in particular should never touch either. Keep it away from low pH products, because the two together react rather than sit quietly. Store it sealed in a ventilated space and keep the scoop dry. A bag this size only makes sense once a room is mixing stock tanks weekly.
