What Comes in an AutoPot 1Pot Module
A tray and lid, a 3.9 gallon pot, one AQUAvalve and a root control disc. Also a length of pipe and two tees, for cutting into a line that already runs. There is no tank in the box. This is the part you add when the system works and you want another plant on it. The trays move freely, so pots can be spaced further apart as the plants fill out.
Running a Self Watering System That Has No Pump
Everything moves on gravity, so the reservoir has to sit at least 150 mm above the highest AQUAvalve, roughly six inches. The valve fills the tray, lets the plant draw it down, then refills, which is the wet and dry cycle the roots actually want. Pot up and leave the plant to establish for 7 to 12 days at this pot size before you open the tap. Refill the reservoir at about one third remaining and never let it run dry. After topping up, close the tap for 30 to 60 minutes so sediment settles rather than travelling into the pipework. One thing to check before adding a module. An AQUAvalve4 line runs 1/4 in pipe and an AQUAvalve5 line runs 3/8 in, and the fittings do not cross.
