Twenty-Four Plants on the AutoPot 24 Pot Pro System

Four rows of six trays make up the growing side, each holding one square 3.9 gal pot. Every tray has a grommeted lid, a Root Control Disc for the pot and an AQUAvalve5 in the floor. The valve lets solution in until the tray holds about 1 in, then closes off. Only when the plant has drained that tray does the valve open for the next fill. Big plants and small ones run their own cycles side by side, with none of them sitting wet. The supply side is a 105 gal FlexiTank Pro, about 29 in across and 41.3 in tall when full. Its reflective, light-tight skin keeps light off the solution, which suits bright, warm rooms. Hidden supports and an anti-tip build keep that much liquid standing safely. Capacity lines inside the wall show the volume during mixing and refills. AutoPot spaces these pots four per square metre, so the full layout covers about six square metres.

Laying Out a Gravity Feed Watering System for 24 Pots

This gravity feed watering system starts with the tank raised so its base clears the highest valve by at least 6 in. A 1/2 in click-fit adaptor and filter link the outlet to 32 ft of 1/2 in trunk pipe. Two inline taps and a 1/2 in tee sit on the trunk for shut-off and branching. Twelve 1/2 to 3/8 in crosses then split the feed into 39 ft of 3/8 in pipe for the trays. With the tank on a stand, set the filter a short way down the 1/2 in line rather than at the outlet. The FlexiTank Pro is food-grade, assembles in minutes and collapses again between crops. Pot up with an open mix, about half perlite or clay pebbles with coco or soil. Water transplants in by hand, then give the roots about a week before opening the taps. Check the filter each week, and refill when roughly a third of the solution is left. With mineral nutrients, flush the taps for half a minute or so once a week. Keep that routine and all twenty-four trays look after themselves.
