Four Large Pots on the AutoPot 4Pot XL System

Four big plants, two rows of two, share one reservoir and a short feed line. Every round pot holds 6.6 gal of mix and stands about 14.5 in tall. Each one sits in a 1Pot XL grommeted tray with a lid, roughly 15 in square, and can be turned in place. Inside each tray, an AQUAvalve5 fills to about 1 in deep and then closes. It waits for that plant to drink the tray dry before it opens again. The dry spell between fills pulls air into the lower root zone and keeps the mix from staying soggy. Supply comes from a 12.4 gal solid reservoir with a lid and a top hat grommet. There is no pump, timer or outlet anywhere in the setup. AutoPot tags this kit for a 4 x 4 or 5 x 5 ft tent. The deep pots give long-season plants and heavy feeders plenty of root room.

Running an Auto Pot XL Setup in a Tent

An auto pot XL setup in a tent starts with the reservoir on a shelf or stand. Keep its base at least 6 in above the highest valve so every tray fills. Fit the 3/8 in golf filter at the outlet, then run 13 ft of 3/8 in pipe through the two inline taps. Two cross connectors and four tee connectors split that line to the four valves. Drop a Root Control Disc into each pot, gold face down, before filling. Use an airy mix, about half perlite or clay pebbles blended into coco or soil. Transplant starts around 12 in tall and water each one through by hand. Keep the taps shut for 10 to 14 days while roots move down into the pot. Open them once the pots feel light, and the valves take over the feeding. Clean the filter as needed and refill the tank at about a third full. Never let it run empty.
