BioWorks EpiShield O Insecticide Changes the Math at Volume
At commercial volume the arithmetic is what sells it: 36 oz mixes 400 gallons of finished spray. The actives are peppermint oil at 15% and clove oil at 10%, with the remaining 75% inert. That concentration is why the rate sits at 9 fl oz per 100 gallons instead of the quart-per-hundred a conventional horticultural oil wants. Less oil on the leaf also means less to go wrong on a warm afternoon.
Rates and Re-Entry for a Greenhouse and Nursery Miticide
Both sizes carry a zero-hour REI and zero-day PHI, which is what lets a room stay on a continuous schedule. Nobody waits to re-enter. Foliar goes on at 9 fl oz per 100 gallons, up to 12 under heavy mite pressure, on a five to seven day interval. Cuttings dip at 2.7 mL per gallon. The label is specific about two things: it controls mites and aphids but only suppresses thrips, whiteflies and mealybugs. It also will not tank mix with another oil-carried product, so spot test before a full house goes out.
Target pests
-
Mites, Aphids, Thrips, Whiteflies, Mealybugs
Application & use rates
-
Foliar spray: 9–12 fl oz per 100 gallons (increase to 12 fl oz under high pressure)
-
Dipping: 2.7 mL/gal
-
Coverage: apply thoroughly (spray to wet, not runoff) and follow label best practices (avoid extreme heat; don’t tank mix with sulfur-based products).
Key Features
- 400 Gallons per 36 oz Jug: At the 9 fl oz per 100 gallon rate one jug carries a full block, and the 2.5 gallon drum carries roughly 3,500.
- Peppermint 15%, Clove 10%: Contact actives that paralyze, smother and desiccate soft-bodied pests, with the balance inert.
- 0-Hour REI, 0-Day PHI: Exempt from maximum residue limits, so spraying never costs you a shift or a harvest window.
- OMRI Listed: Cleared for certified organic greenhouse, shadehouse, interiorscape and nursery production.
- Physical Mode of Action: Pests are killed mechanically rather than metabolically, which is why it slots into rotation without resistance planning.
