Bluelab External Lockout Box for the Pro Controller
An automated doser is only as safe as the conditions around it, and this box lets the Pro Controller see those conditions. Bluelab's lockout and alarm box, product code PROEXBOX, connects outside switches to the controller's alarm and lockout input. Wire in a float switch on a reservoir, a flow sensor on a feed line or a signal from an irrigation controller. When any of them trips, the Pro Controller drops into lockout mode and stops all dosing until someone resets it. Both normally open and normally closed switches work. Several normally open switches can share a circuit in parallel, while normally closed switches chain in series. A built-in buzzer sounds on lockout, and it can be switched off where noise is a problem. The box can also drive an external horn or flashing light, which matters when the controller lives in a pump room nobody watches. The controller's own alarm relay is rated for 24 VAC or DC at 250 mA maximum. Larger alarm devices need an external relay wired by a qualified electrician.
Real Overdose Protection for Recirculating Systems
The classic failure is a reservoir that drains while the probes sit dry. A dry or empty tank gives the controller false readings, and it keeps dosing to chase them. A low-level float switch through this box stops that cycle before acid or concentrate pours into an empty tank. Growers running timed irrigation often wire the irrigation controller in too, pausing dosing while a feed-out is under way. A flow switch on the circulation line adds a second check, locking the system if the pump stops moving water. When the lockout trips, the controller shows it on its display and on the external lockout light. Nothing doses again until a person checks the cause and clears it. Mount the box near the controller and run the switch wiring neatly, away from wet floors and drip lines. Test every switch after installation by triggering it by hand and confirming the lockout. The honest trade-off is the wiring work, since the switches themselves are not included. A float switch costs little next to a ruined tank of nutrient solution.
Key Features
- Doser Lockout: Any connected switch puts the Pro Controller into lockout, stopping all dosing until it is reset by hand.
- NO and NC Switch Inputs: Normally open switches wire in parallel and normally closed switches in series, so float, flow and irrigation signals all fit.
- Built-In Alarm: An onboard buzzer flags the lockout on site and can be disabled where it would disturb people.
- External Alarm Output: A horn or flashing light can be connected for rooms where the controller sits out of sight.
- Irrigation Interlock: Wiring in the irrigation controller pauses dosing during feed-out, avoiding chases after fresh water.
