Botanicare End Tray, 4 ft Wide by 5 ft Long

A modular tray run needs a closed end, and this section supplies it along with a full bay of growing space. Part number HGC706010 is the longest of Botanicare's four end trays for the 4 ft wide system. It measures 60.0 x 46.8 in and stands about 4.7 in tall. The far end is closed, and the open end overlaps the neighboring drain or middle tray. The joint is then sealed with Bond Three tray sealant to make one watertight table. The floor carries the same grid of raised pads as the rest of the system, so pots stay up out of standing water. Water runs back along the channels to the drain tray's sump. The section is molded from recycled black ABS that resists bowing, cracking and leaking. On its own it has no drain, so it always pairs with a Botanicare drain tray somewhere in the run. With one drain tray, it builds a 126 in table, or 10 ft 6 in.

Sizing a Modular Grow Tray Run

Measure the bench or floor space first, then work back from the drain tray. A drain tray plus this end tray makes the shortest run that uses the 5 ft end. Each middle tray added between them extends the run by 5 ft. Botanicare also makes shorter end trays, at two, three and four feet, for spaces that fall between those steps. Overlap each joint fully and run a continuous bead of Bond Three along the seam. One bottle seals about 16.75 ft of seam, so plan roughly one bottle for every three or four joints. Give the sealant time to cure before flooding the table. Check the run is level, since even a slight slope away from the drain leaves water pooling at this end. For drip to waste, a gentle fall toward the drain tray helps the run empty completely. Clean between crops with a peroxide cleaner, a stiff nylon brush and a full rinse, then disinfect. The finished table suits ebb and flow, drip and lettuce raft systems.
