Each overlap between them needs a sealed seam, and that is the job of this sealant. One cartridge yields 16.75 ft of seam. That works out to about 3.8 seams on 4 ft wide trays, or 3.1 seams on 5 ft wide trays. The formula is low odor, which matters in a closed grow room. It also resists weathering and UV degradation, so greenhouse benches in direct sun keep their seal. The white color matches the trays, so finished joints look clean. It comes in a cartridge with a nozzle for a standard caulking gun.

Using a Hydroponic Tray Sealant on New Builds

Count the joints first, because a run with one drain tray and one end tray has a single seam. Every middle tray adds another seam, so a run with two middle trays has three. Dry-fit the trays on the bench and check that each overlap sits flat before opening the cartridge. Wipe both mating surfaces clean of dust, grease and mold-release residue, then let them dry. Lay a continuous bead along the full width of the overlap with no gaps at the corners. Press the trays together so the bead spreads evenly, and wipe away the squeeze-out. Follow the cure time on the cartridge before filling the table. Then flood the table with plain water and walk every seam, checking underneath for drips. Mark any weep, drain the tray, dry it and add a fresh bead over the spot. The same sealant can patch an older seam once the old bead is cut away. Store opened cartridges capped to keep the nozzle from skinning over.
