Why the Botanicare Low Tide 4x4 Tray Runs Shallow on Purpose

Most growers under a 4x4 do not need a reservoir underfoot. They need runoff to go somewhere. Low Tide answers that with a 3.5 in sidewall instead of the seven inches on a full flood tray. That cuts the plastic without cutting the footprint. Inside floor is a true 48 in x 48 in, and it will still hold 30 gallons if something upstream fails. The drainage grid runs diagonally rather than square, so water tracks toward the outlet instead of pooling in a grid pocket under a pot.

Fitting a 4x4 Drip Tray Under an Actual 4x4

Here is the number to check first. Outside dimensions are 49 in x 49 in x 3.75 in, and a 4x4 tent floor is 48 in square. This tray does not drop inside a 4x4 tent, it goes under a bench, a rack or a freestanding 4x4 canopy. Growers who want it inside the tent size down instead. Once it is placed, set a slight pitch toward the drain end and let the diagonal grid do the rest.
