A quart of Botanicare Silica Blast, the 0-0-0.5 potassium silicate supplement carrying 1.0% soluble silicon. It makes 189 gallons of finished solution at the 5 mL per gallon rate, which covers one tent through a full run. This is the size to start on before committing to a gallon jug.

A Quart Of Silica Supplement For Plants At 2.5 To 5 mL Per Gallon

A quart is 946 mL, and at the mature-plant rate of 5 mL per gallon that makes 189 gallons of finished solution. One tent for a full run, or a couple of rooms for a few weeks. It is the size to start on, because silica for plants is an additive whose effect shows up in week six rather than week one. The analysis is 0-0-0.5. The working ingredient is potassium silicate at 1.0% soluble silicon, which is close to 2% when the same silicon is written as silica. Half a percent of soluble potash is the only thing it adds to a feed.

Silica For Plants In Soil, Coco And Small Reservoirs

Soil and soilless containers take half a teaspoon to a teaspoon per gallon, at every watering or every other one. Reservoirs go by plant size instead. Mid-size plants get 2.5 mL per gallon and mature plants get 5 mL, refreshed every five to seven days. Add it to plain water on its own, ahead of base nutrients, because a silicate dropped into a mixed tank can cloud it. Then reset pH to 6.0, since potassium silicate is alkaline and pushes a reservoir up. One honest note on the size. A quart will not carry a production room through a season. Anyone already running silicon as standard is better served by the gallon, which holds four times as much at the same concentration.

Key Features

  • 189 gallons of finished solution per quart: Enough for one tent across a full run at the 5 mL mature-plant rate, and roughly double that at the lighter rate.
  • 1.0% soluble silicon from potassium silicate: The same concentration as every larger size, so nothing about the rate changes if you scale up later.
  • 0-0-0.5 guaranteed analysis: Half a percent of soluble potash is the whole nutrient load, which keeps it clear of a bloom feed.
  • One rate range for soil, coco and hydro: 2.5 to 5 mL per gallon covers container gardens and recirculating reservoirs without a second chart.
  • Bound into tissue within 24 hours of uptake: Silicon deposits into cell walls and stays there, so a quart run through veg still shows up at harvest.
  • Quart footprint: It fits on a shelf beside the base nutrients instead of taking floor space, which suits a tent or a spare room.
