The alternative is two complete environmental systems, which costs far more than a panel. Interior placement is what the maker recommends. Direct sunlight on an exterior installation will eventually find a way through. The honest limit is that this is not insulation and it is not a sound baffle. Air moves through it freely, and so does noise.
