Coco Flex 4L: One-Gallon Coco for Dense Canopies
Rooms that run a tight canopy of small plants reach for this size. It is the #1 format of CANNA Coco Flex, a disk of washed coco pith compressed inside an open-top grow bag. Dry, it measures about 5 x 5 1/2 x 1 5/8 in, small enough that a box of 40 fits where a few bags of loose coco would. Given water, it rises to about 5 1/2 x 6 x 6 1/4 in, close to one gallon of medium. Expect to use roughly 3 to 4 L of solution for a full expansion. The coco tests below 1.0 mS/cm EC with a pH of 5.5 to 7.0, and total aeration sits under 20%. Two dripper holes are already punched in the top. The UV-stabilized recyclable bag has high sides, plus drainage holes in the bottom for clean dry-backs. There is no fertilizer charge in the coco at all.
Turning Compressed Coco Into a Planted Bag
Carry the sealed bags into the room, open each one and seat a dripper in each pre-punched hole. Expansion then runs on your irrigation system with CANNA Coco A and B, in several short cycles rather than one heavy one. Slow cycles swell the disk evenly and waste less out of the drainage holes. Hand watering works too, poured over the top in stages. A few catch trays under sample bags give runoff numbers without lifting anything. When the bag stands at full height, rooted cuttings go straight in. The smaller volume dries back faster between irrigations, which is exactly what high-density rooms want. It also means more frequent feeding once plants size up, so it is a poor match for a long veg or a big finish. For those, the two-gallon version holds more water between events. Because the medium starts unfed, every irrigation from the first one carries nutrient solution.
