CANNA Rhizotonic: Natural Rooting Support From the First Week

Rhizotonic is a natural rooting supplement built around an algae extract, made to improve root growth and the plant's tolerance to stress. CANNA describes it as 100% natural. The extract carries trace elements and vitamins, including B1 and B2. Its label analysis is listed as 0-0-0.6, so it adds very little to the nutrient load. That makes it easy to slot into a feed program at the stage when young roots are most fragile. The main targets are cuttings, seedlings and plants that have just been repotted. It also suits weak or poorly developed plants that need help getting going. Plants that have been through shock, from transplanting or shipping, are another common use. Rhizotonic works in every growing medium, including soil, coco, COGr and hydro systems. It can also be sprayed on the leaves. Some growers soak seeds in a dilute solution before sowing to help germination along. Others keep a bottle beside the clone station and add it to every batch of propagation water.

Using a Root Stimulator: Rates, Timing and Handling

Start at 40 mL per 10 L of water for the first week, mixed into a normal feed. That is roughly 0.5 fl oz per gallon. Once a strong root system has developed, drop to 5 mL per 10 L, a 1:2000 dilution. At that point the rate works out to about 0.07 fl oz per gallon. When repotting, pre-treat the new growing medium with the starting solution before the plant goes in. Rockwool cubes, plugs and coco can all be soaked this way ahead of planting. Results are better at a low EC. If needed, run Rhizotonic on its own for the first few days, with no other fertilizer in the water. Young cuttings in a propagator often get exactly that treatment before any base nutrient is added. Shake the bottle well before each use. Store it in a dark place, away from extremes of heat and cold, ideally between 10 and 30°C.

Key Features

  • Algae-based and natural: Built on an algae extract with trace elements and B1 and B2 vitamins.
  • Made for young roots: Supports cuttings, seedlings and freshly repotted plants as roots establish.
  • Stress recovery: Helps plants that have been through transplant shock or shipping.
  • Every growing medium: Works in soil, coco, COGr and hydro, and as a foliar spray.
  • Light 0-0-0.6 analysis: Adds little to the feed, so it runs well at the low EC young plants need.
  • Two-stage dosing: A stronger first-week rate, then a 1:2000 maintenance rate.
