CANNA Substra Vega Soft Water for Low-Mineral Source Water

Substra is CANNA's line for run-to-waste systems, where the drain water leaves the slab and never returns to the tank. Vega is its growth-stage formula, and this set is the soft water version, with Part A at 4-0-2 and Part B at 1-2-4. Soft water here means source water carrying roughly 60 ppm or less of dissolved minerals, the USGS threshold CANNA points to. Water that clean brings very little calcium or magnesium of its own. The soft water formula makes up that shortfall inside the bottles. Mix A and B in equal amounts, up to 0.5 fl oz per gallon of each, or 40 mL per 10 L. CANNA's working window is an EC of 0.8 to 1.5 mS/cm for A plus B over clean water, at a pH of 5.2 to 6.2. Because inert media add nothing and hold nothing back, every element the plant uses has to come from the solution.

Feeding a Run-to-Waste Nutrient Through Veg

This is the feed for rockwool slabs, stonewool blocks and other inert substrates on drip lines. It is also the right call for RO water or naturally soft municipal supplies, which leave no mineral reserve behind. Growers on hard, chalky tap water should pick the hard water version instead, or the calcium stacks up in the slab. A quick water test settles the question before the first feed. Pour A into the reservoir water first and stir, then add B. The two concentrates never touch undiluted. Full-grown plants take roughly three to five litres per square metre per day, split into several shots through the lights-on period. Watch the drain EC rather than the input alone, since a climbing runoff number means the slab is holding salts. At the end of veg, the switch goes to Substra Flores Soft Water in the same way. Store both bottles sealed, dark and frost free.
