Chikamasa B-300S: The Compact Grape Scissor in Stainless

Humid rooms and wet benches are hard on carbon steel, and this is Chikamasa's answer. It keeps the compact B-300 shape but cuts the blade from high-quality Japanese stainless instead. The edge is ground fine, with a narrow point that slips between grapes on a tight cluster. Cutting length is 35 mm, and the scissor measures 157 mm overall at about 48 g. The handles are moulded from ABS resin in a broad, open loop that fits most hands. A stainless steel rivet at the pivot reduces friction and resists rust. There is no spring, coating or cushion here. That plain build is exactly what makes it easy to live with. Rinse it, dry it, and it is ready for the next job. Some retailers list it at 155 mm, but Chikamasa's own spec gives 157 mm.

Stainless Grape Scissors for Clusters, Herbs and Fine Trim

Table-grape growers use this pattern to thin clusters, clipping out small berries so the rest have room to size up. Indoors, the same fine point works on herbs, microgreens and deadheading, anywhere a small, clean cut is the whole job. At the trim table it picks stray sugar leaves out of dense flower. Stainless is the reason to choose this over the carbon B-300. It shrugs off wash water and humidity, so it can live in a propagation room or a wet harvest bucket without spotting. The trade-off is resin, which clings to bare stainless and wants a wipe with isopropyl every few buds. The hard ABS handles also feel firmer than the soft elastomer grips on the B-500 line. For long trims, a cushioned B-500S or a spring-loaded TP-500S is easier on the hand. Keep it to leaf, soft stems and fruit clusters, since the fine point chips if forced through wood. Store it dry and closed, and it stays sharp between seasons.
