The Chikamasa B-500SF puts a fluorine coating on the straight B-500 stainless blade, so resin slides off during bulk trim instead of gumming the edge. These sap resistant garden scissors handle fan leaf, stem cuts and grape thinning at a steady pace through long sessions.

Chikamasa B-500SF: The Straight Blade, Coated for Resin

Take the plain stainless B-500S, add a layer of high-quality fluorine coating to the blade, and you have this pair. That coating is the whole reason it exists. Resin and sap cling to bare steel and drag every cut, while the coated surface lets them slide away. Underneath sits a straight 35 mm blade of heat-treated Japanese stainless, ground to a fine point. The pair measures 155 mm overall and weighs just 42 g. Chikamasa rounds the outer faces of the blade, a detail carried over from its grape-care roots. Those rounded backs slide past berries and finished buds without bruising them. The orange elastomer grip is moulded over an internal steel core, soft on the hand but rigid under load. A tightened stainless rivet keeps blade tension steady and does not rust. A cushioned stop softens every close, which matters over the thousands of cuts in a harvest day.

Sap Resistant Garden Scissors for the Bulk of the Trim

Straight blades earn their keep on volume work. Stripping fan leaves off wet branches, cutting stems down to hanging length and squaring the base of buds all go quickly with this shape. Because the coating sheds resin, the stops to clean the blade come further apart during a wet trim. Build-up still happens eventually, and a rag dipped in isopropyl wipes it off without scraping the finish. Avoid scouring pads and abrasive cleaners, which will wear through the coating faster than any harvest. Where it falls short is reach. A straight tip does not tuck into deep crevices as neatly as the slanted B-500SLF or the curved B-500SRF. Many trimmers keep one of each and swap as the work shifts from bulk to detail. No spring is fitted, so your fingers open the blades, and the spring-loaded TP-500SF exists for anyone who prefers the assist. Keep it off woody branches, which chip a fine edge and scar the coating.

Key Features

  • Fluorine Sap-Resistant Coating: Resin and sap slide off the coated blade, so cleaning stops come further apart during wet trim.
  • Straight Japanese Stainless Blade: A heat-treated straight edge moves fast through fan leaves, stem cuts and bud bases.
  • Rounded Outer Faces: The blade backs are ground round to pass fruit and finished flower without bruising.
  • Steel-Core Elastomer Grip: A soft orange grip over a steel core stays comfortable while keeping the pair rigid.
  • Cushioned Stop and Stainless Rivet: A soft stop absorbs closing shock, and the stainless rivet holds tension without rusting.
