This line set coupler kit joins two pre-charged runs into one longer one. It is the 3/8 by 5/8 version, which means a 24K or 36K air handler. Two couplers come in the box, one for each line, along with a 75 ft MC-5 cable. The insulation sleeve is 3/4 in and rated for outdoor exposure. It is listed as DIY 4th Generation, so match it to your unit before you commit.

What the Line Set Coupler Kit Joins, and for Which Units

A pre-charged line set comes in one piece and one length, so joining two of them needs a fitting on each line. That is why this kit holds two couplers rather than one: the 3/8 line and the 5/8 line each take their own. It is the 3/8 by 5/8 size, which means the 24K and 36K air handlers. The 75 ft item in this kit is a communication cable and it carries no refrigerant at all. Only the two couplers join refrigerant lines, and they join the 3/8 and 5/8 sizes. The insulation sleeve is 3/4 in and guards against sun, weather and rodents. This is the DIY 4th Generation kit, which matters because MrCool changed refrigerant between generations, and a mismatch is not something a coupler fixes. Nothing in the kit needs a vacuum pump, gauges or brazing.

Why the Communication Cable Is That Long

The communication cable links the indoor air handler to the outdoor condenser and carries the control signal, not refrigerant. Its length is set by the same limit that governs the refrigerant run, which is where the figure comes from. MrCool cap the total system run at seventy five feet, for example a fifty foot set joined to a twenty five foot one. Past that the system is not supported, so a cable any longer than the cap would have nowhere to go. Plan the route before joining anything, because the cap counts every foot including the vertical rise. Torque is the other thing to get right at a coupler. Under tighten and the joint weeps over weeks rather than failing loudly. Over tighten and the brass deforms permanently, which no amount of retightening recovers. Use a torque wrench and a backup wrench on the fixed side, every joint, without exception. And never kink a line getting it round a corner, because a kink on a sealed system is not repairable.
