What an AWOL DIVER Box Liner Is For

This is a sealed bag sized to drop inside a shipping carton rather than to be carried on its own. DL Wholesale give the size as 18 by 18 by 16 inches, which fills a medium box. That is roughly 85 litres of sealed volume. The construction is the DIVER specification: water tight and air tight rather than water repellent. Two top handles are fitted, so the liner can be lifted in and out while loaded. There are no shoulder straps, because the carton is the thing doing the carrying. The point of a liner is that the outer box takes the abuse and the inner bag keeps the seal. A duffle used the same way takes scuffs on its sealing surface, and a scuffed seal eventually leaks. Getting a Sealed Inner Bag to Survive a Courier

Close the liner before the carton flaps go over, and check both ends of the track. Fill the void space in the box rather than in the bag. A liner packed tight puts tension on its own closure every time the carton is squeezed. Void fill between the liner and the carton wall takes that load instead. Keep the zipper track clean, because grit is the usual reason a seal starts to pass air. A wipe between uses is enough, and a silicone lubricant helps the gasket last. Think about pressure on air freight. A bag sealed at ground level expands in a hold, and an expanded bag presses on its own closure. Leaving a little slack in the liner handles that without any venting. Treated that way a liner outlasts the cartons it travels in, several times over.
