Two plenums bolt onto the Quest 100 and turn a free-standing dehumidifier into a ducted one, with the filter still reachable through a magnetic door. The Quest 100 Duct Kit, part 4042265, is the supply plenum, the return plenum and the fasteners to fit them.

What Is in the Quest 100 Duct Kit

The kit is four things: a return duct plenum, a supply duct plenum, a magnetic filter door and a pack of four self-drilling fasteners. Its part number is 4042265, and Quest builds it for the Quest 100 dehumidifier, PN 4041870, and the 50 Hz version, PN 4046590. The return plenum fits over the intake side of the cabinet, and the supply plenum fits over the discharge. Each one carries a round collar for duct, so the unit can draw from one space and deliver to another. That is what lets a Quest 100 sit in a lung room, a hallway or a mechanical closet. It still works the grow room through two runs of flex duct. The filter stays in service. It slides into a slot on the return plenum with its airflow arrow pointing at the machine. The magnetic door closes over it, so a filter change is a pull and a push rather than a plenum removal. Fitting it needs a portable drill, a T25 Torx driver and a 5/16 in hex driver, and nothing else. The plenums hang on the cabinet's own panel screws. Those screws back out halfway, the plenum's keyed slots drop over them, and the screws are tightened again. The four fasteners then anchor the plenum tabs into the plastic base, self-drilling, with no pilot holes. Quest's instructions open with the warning that matters: disconnect the dehumidifier from power before any of it starts. The kit ships at about 5 lb.

Ducting Dehumidifier Supply and Return Plenums Without Choking the Unit

Dehumidifier supply and return plenums move the machine's air through duct, and duct has a cost in static pressure that the blower has to pay. Keep both runs as short and as straight as the room allows, and size them to the collars rather than necking down. A long run of crushed flex on the return is the usual reason a ducted unit pulls less water than it did on the floor. Fit the return plenum first, with the unit powered down and the old filter set aside. Back the two top panel screws and the two right panel screws out halfway, hang the plenum on them, and tighten. Drive the two fasteners through the bottom tabs into the base. Slide the filter in, arrow toward the machine, and close the magnetic door with the larger tab on top. Then the supply side: four screws out halfway on the top, rear and left panels, plenum on, screws tight, two more fasteners into the base. Seal the duct to each collar with foil tape rather than cloth tape. A dehumidifier discharge is warm, and cloth adhesive lets go within a season. Put the return pickup low in the room where the wettest air sits, and the supply high, so the dry air falls through the canopy. Check the filter monthly once it is ducted. Out of sight behind a door, a filter loads up faster than one on an open cabinet. A loaded filter is the second reason a ducted unit underperforms. Label the two plenums supply and return on the outside, since from across a lung room they look the same.
