EZ Trim Bud Sorter 1/4 Inch Grate for Clearing Shake and Fine Trim

Every batch on the EZ Trim Bud Sorter starts on a grate with openings set at 1/4 in. Shake, crumbs and loose sugar leaf fall through to the tote below, and the buds stay on the surface. The grate measures 25 x 19 1/4 in and drops into the frame of the full-size sorter. Food-grade stainless steel makes it safe for finished flower and quick to sanitize. The sorter works without power, vibration or moving parts. Instead, buds are swept across the grate with soft food-grade brushes. Load about 1 lb of dried, trimmed buds at a time for the cleanest separation. A thin layer lets the fine material find an opening on the first few strokes. One operator on a full sorter can process 70 to 90 lbs of finished flower in an hour. Shake collected here still has value for kief, edibles and extract work. With a grate on each side, two operators can sweep product toward the center bin at once. A spare grate keeps the station moving while another one is washed.

Clearing Shake on Bud Sorter Grates

Use flower that has been fully dried and trimmed so nothing sticks in the openings. Seat the grate in the sorter frame and make sure it lies flat. Place a clean tote underneath to catch the shake. Pour a light layer of buds onto the middle of the grate. Brush the buds back and forth a couple of times with gentle strokes. Watch the fine material sift through as the buds roll. Move the clean buds on to the next station once nothing more falls. Empty the shake tote regularly and keep it labeled for later use. Brush off sticky residue during long runs so the openings stay open. Wash the grate in warm, soapy water at the end of each day. A food-safe sanitizer between strains keeps lots from mixing. Rinse and let it air dry before stacking. Store it flat to keep the steel straight. A clean grate gives a sharper split between shake and buds on every pass.
