FloraFlex 1 Gal QuickFill O2: Mesh-Wrapped Coco for Veg Tables
This case holds twenty compressed coco bags that become finished one-gallon containers once they take on solution. Inside each black mesh wrapper is super-washed coco peat, compressed 5:1 down to 415.5 g per bag. Fed through two drippers, a bag swells into a 6 x 6 x 6 in block holding 4.6 L of media. Getting there takes roughly 3 L of solution per bag, so a full case drinks a little under sixteen gallons. Once expanded, the media settles at a fixed 60% water and 40% air, with 85% porosity behind it. FloraFlex washes it to an EC under 0.6 by the Dutch 1:1.5 method, and pH lands between 6.0 and 6.5. Sodium stays below 90 ppm and potassium below 165 ppm, so the first feed reads close to what you mixed. Every batch runs through a heavy-metals panel and microbial plating, and each bag carries a printed batch number. That number earns its keep when one bench behaves differently from the rest. The coco is CDFA registered, and the bag is tested to ASTM D5511 for enhanced landfill biodegradation. Nothing needs filling, tamping or leveling before the plants go in.
Running Expandable Coco Coir With an Air-Pruning Mesh Wall
Set the bags on the table first, then push a FloraFlex Micro Dripper stake into each of the two side holes. FloraFlex expands this size on its 2-Way assembly at 0.3 GPH per stake, which takes about an hour and a half. Mix a complete early-veg feed with calcium and magnesium for that first run, because fresh coco pulls both out of solution. Drop the 40|40 plug or rooted clone into the center hole once the block is about halfway up, then pull loose coco over it. The mesh sidewall is where this bag earns its name. Roots that reach the wall meet air and stop, which pushes new branching back into the media instead of circling. FloraFlex aims the O2 at veg rooms where root-zone oxygen is the bottleneck, under high-output LED or HPS. The trade-off is an outer edge that dries faster than the core, so warm rooms with strong airflow need more frequent, smaller shots. Check the corners by hand for the first few days, because a dry edge shows up there before the center does. The block matches a six-inch stonewool cube in footprint, so it drops into trays and tables already laid out for that format. That volume holds a long-flowering plant for less time between irrigations, which is why this size fits veg and short cycles best.
Key Features
- Case of 20 Bags: Twenty compressed one-gallon sites ship in one carton and expand in place on the table.
- O2 Mesh Sidewall: The black breathable wrap air-prunes roots at the wall and keeps oxygen moving through the root zone.
- 60% Water, 40% Air: A fixed ratio after expansion keeps every bag on the bench holding the same volume of solution.
- Super-Washed, Low EC: Coco washed to under 0.6 EC with pH 6.0 to 6.5, so the media adds little of its own.
- Pre-Drilled for Plug and Drippers: One center hole takes a 40|40 plug, and two side holes take micro drip stakes.
- Batch-Tested and Traceable: Heavy-metals and microbial testing on every batch, with a printed batch number on each bag.
