FloraFlex Under Canopy Kits: Bars, Output and Spectrum Options
FloraFlex sells its under-canopy light as a kit of 120W bars linked by 24 in cords. The 3-bar kit draws 360W and covers 4 x 4 to 4 x 6 ft of bench. The 6-bar kit draws 720W and stretches to 4 x 8 to 4 x 12 ft. The full-spectrum version puts out 972 µmol/s or 1,944 µmol/s at 2.7 µmol/J. The far-red version runs 1,188 µmol/s or 2,376 µmol/s at 3.3 µmol/J, adding Osram far-red chips to the white diodes. On the 6-bar far-red kit, 612 µmol/s of that output sits in the 700–800 nm band. Every kit dims from 100W to full power on 0–10V and cools passively with no fans. Input runs 120–277V; the 6-bar kit draws 6.13A at 120V, and the 3-bar kit 3.19A. Far Red Under Canopy Lights or Full Spectrum: Which Fits
Far red under canopy lights and full-spectrum bars do different jobs, so choose by what the lower canopy lacks. Full-spectrum bars add more usable light where the top fixture fades. That firms up lower bud sites. Far red goes a step further, because far-red photons combined with red drive photosynthesis harder than either one alone. That makes the far-red kit the stronger pick in dense rooms already running efficient white top lights. Hang the bars below the canopy and aim them up into the lower branches after the stretch is done. Bring them in dimmed and raise output over several days so shaded leaves do not scorch. Strip the lowest growth first, since lighting leaves that come off at defoliation wastes power. In a small tent with short plants, there is little lower canopy to feed, and the payback is thin. The 3-bar kit fits a single 4x4 or 4x6 table, while the 6-bar kit runs the length of a 4x8 or longer bench. Match the voltage to the circuit under the benches, since that decides the cord set.
