Setting Intensity With the Fluence LED Dimmer Controller
A dimmer is the part of a Fluence room that most growers bolt on after the fixtures are already hanging. This one is a single-channel wall unit outputting either a 0-10V analog signal or a PWM signal, set by a switch on the housing. It leaves the factory pre-set to the analog signal, so a room running Fluence drivers works on first power-up without anyone touching that switch. Intensity covers the full 0 to 100% range and the digital readout shows the number rather than a vague dial position. Source and sink current is rated at 40 mA DC, and that current is what caps the chain. Fluence now puts the recommended ceiling at 25 fixtures, or 32 mA of loading, across no more than 200 feet of signal wire. Run the wire longer than that and signal strength falls off, which quietly reduces how many fixtures actually track the dimmer. The unit takes 120V AC and runs on 12 VDC at 0.5 A through a barrel connector. Two 2-position terminal connectors land the dimming signal wires, and one of them is a spare.
Mounting the Grow Light Dimmer and What Ships With It
Mount it on a wall near the fixtures rather than out by the door, because the signal-wire budget gets spent fast in a long room. Screws and drywall anchors come in the box. Keep it clear of the wet zone and anything that gets splashed during irrigation, and dry your hands before touching the buttons. Fluence rates it for spaces under eighty percent relative humidity, which rules out a lot of flower rooms at lights-out. A wall in a dry corridor outside the canopy is the usual answer. The LiPo backup battery holds the intensity setting through a short outage, so the room comes back where you left it instead of at full. This unit ships with its power cord, and Fluence has confirmed that the AC wall adapter is sold separately. That adapter is Fluence part DM2AA-DPA1BCMTAP, and without it the dimmer has no wall power. Growers running a combined power and dimming whip can skip it, since the fixture feeds the dimmer down the same cable. It is not a timer, so photoperiod still belongs to a contactor or an AC timer upstream. The dimming signal cable is a separate item too, and which one depends on whether the fixture takes M12 or M16.
