What the Futurola KB100 Fatboy Filling Device Actually Is

This is one filling plate for a Knockbox 100, machined to a single cone size. Fatboy cones measure 120/30 and hold 3.0 grams, with a crown diameter of 15 mm. Those three figures are what the tooling is machined around. Each cone size gets its own plate, because the bore has to match the paper. The bore spacing, the funnel taper and the crown aperture all change together. Material drops through, the tray vibrates, and every cone in the plate fills to the same depth. What arrives is the device on its own. The Knockbox 100 base, the controller and the spill tray are separate components, as are the mix tray and the unload station. This part assumes a Knockbox 100 is already on the bench.

Running a Fatboy 120/30 Cone Through a Knockbox 100

A fatboy 120/30 cone has its own loading behaviour inside the machine. Three grams of material needs a longer settle before the knock, or the top third finishes loose. Most operators run a slightly coarser grind for this size and let the vibration do more of the work. The wide crown is forgiving on the load, which makes it the easiest size to train a new operator on. It is also the least forgiving on material cost, since a short-filled Fatboy is visibly short. Swapping plates between sizes takes a minute and no tools. Keep the plate flat in storage, because a warped plate loads unevenly down one side. Clean it with isopropyl rather than scraping, since resin in the funnel taper changes the fill depth before anyone notices. One compatibility limit is worth naming, because it catches people scaling up. The Knockbox 500 does not take this plate at all. That ceiling sits with the 500 machine rather than with this plate. Within the 100 and 300 machines, Fatboy is fully supported.
