One Plate, Two Names: the Futurola KB100 Slender Filling Device

Reefer and Slender are the same cone, measuring 98/26 and holding 0.6 grams. The naming has sent more growers to the wrong plate than any dimension has. This plate fits a Knockbox 100 and is cut for that one cone. A dedicated plate holds the cone precisely, which matters on a long run where fill consistency is the metric. A crown band of 11 to 12.5 mm covers this cone. The part is the device alone. Knockbox 100 base, controller, spill tray, mix tray and unload station are each separate components. A Knockbox 100 on the bench is what this plate mounts into.

Why the Reefer Size 98/26 Cone Is the Volume Format

A reefer size 98/26 cone is the mid-volume format. Six tenths of a gram is a single-session format. It is also the size the rest of the Futurola ecosystem is built around, which shows up in the unload station grade. Slender uses the Plus unload station. On the bench the narrow bore is unforgiving of a coarse grind. Material bridges in the funnel if the particle size is too large, and the cone finishes light. Run it finer and let the vibration carry the load down. Check the fill by weight on the first tray of every run rather than by eye. A narrow cone hides an underfill well. Plate changes need no tools and take about a minute. Slender is supported across the whole Knockbox range including the 500. That makes it the safe cone to standardise on if the plan is to scale the machine later.
