The Gavita CT 1930e Dummy Plug is not a passive cap. Inside the housing is an RJ45 8-pin (Ethernet-style) connector wired to a small circuit board that simulates a controller signal. With the plug seated in the fixture's IN RJ45 port, the CT 1930e reads a "run at 100% output" command and ramps to full intensity. Pull the plug, and the fixture sees no signal — and stays off.

Two scenarios call for the dummy plug. First case: a single CT 1930e running standalone with no Master EL3 or other Gavita controller in the room. The plug tells the fixture to turn on at 100%. Second case: at the end of a daisy chain on a Master EL3 system. The plug terminates the bus the same way a terminating resistor closes an RS-485 line. Growers typically place one dummy plug per standalone fixture and one at the tail of every controller chain. Worth flagging: only the Gavita CT 1930e is manufacturer-confirmed compatible.
