Gavita 1930e Output, Electrical Load and Build
Gavita rates the CT at 1,930 µmol/s from 780W, about 2.5 µmol/J. The autosensing driver runs on 120–277V at 50/60 Hz. Current falls from 6.6A at 120V to 2.9A at 277V, with a power factor above 0.95. On a 20A, 120V circuit that leaves room for two fixtures, while 277V service carries far more per breaker. Plan cooling around 2,661 BTU/hr of heat per unit. The body measures 29 x 11.8 x 3.9 in and weighs 33.07 lb, close to the size of a DE reflector. It hangs from the included hangers or a Unistrut bracket. A cold-forged aluminum heat sink handles cooling without fans. The housing is IP66 rated for 104°F ambient. Listings include UL 1598, UL 8800 and CSA C22.2 No. 250.0, and Gavita backs it for 5 years.
Using an HPS Replacement LED in an Existing Room
An hps replacement led saves the most time in a room already hung, wired and zoned for DE fixtures. Gavita built the CT to take the place of its own Pro 1000e, so the grid, hangers and circuits can stay where they are. Retail specs put coverage at about a 4x4 ft canopy per fixture. The canopy gets less radiant heat than under HPS. Many growers raise room temperature slightly or lower humidity to keep leaves transpiring. Check runoff during the first run, since plants often use less water after the switch. An EL Master Controller, sold separately, dims the fixtures from 10 to 100 percent. One controller channel handles up to 2,000 fixtures, so a whole building can ramp sunrise and sunset together. Start around half power in early veg and bring it up as the canopy fills. For a single small tent, a lighter fixture fits better than this commercial toplight.
Key Features
