Nitrogen sits at 5%, mostly ammoniacal at 4.5% with 0.5% nitrate, followed by 50% available phosphate and 17% soluble potash. Six trace elements ride along, with copper, iron, manganese and zinc in chelated EDTA form, plus boron and molybdenum. Seaweed extract and 0.2% humic acid round out the blend. There is no urea in it. In hydro it runs at 1 teaspoon per gallon on its own, or 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon per gallon alongside a base feed. Soil and soilless mixes take 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per gallon alone, the same lower range when combined, and foliar sprays use a full teaspoon per gallon. For larger tanks the label gives a concentrate ratio instead. Half a pound in 100 gallons lands near 150 ppm of phosphate. Running a 5-50-17 Fertilizer Without Overdoing Phosphorus
Running a 5-50-17 fertilizer well is mostly about restraint. Phosphorus does its best work in the weeks when flowers are stacking, and more is not better past that point. Heavy phosphate in a recirculating system can tie up zinc and iron, which is why the chelated trace pack matters here. Most growers bring it in once buds are set and taper it before the final flush. Pair it with a complete base that supplies calcium and magnesium, because this bag carries neither. The ammoniacal nitrogen nudges root-zone pH downward, so check runoff for a few feeds after adding it. Dissolve it fully in the water before it meets any calcium-heavy concentrate. Phosphate and calcium meeting at high strength cloud the tank and drop out as a precipitate. A bulk bag also pulls moisture if it sits open in a humid grow room.
