Going from the four-foot model to this one adds more canopy than the numbers suggest. A 4ft 9in square is roughly a third more floor than the four-foot model. That third lands right at the edges, where light falls off first. Interior height stays at 6ft 7in. The roof carries 100 lb across movable cross-members. This is the first size where that figure is worth reading rather than ignoring, because two fixtures plus a hanging filter will approach it. Boxed weight comes to 35 lb, still a one-person carry. The frame is powder coated steel with snap-fit corners. The lining is silver Mylar and the tent fabric returns 97 percent of radiant heat. The second floor is waterproof and lifts out whole.

Getting Even Coverage in a 5x5 Grow Tent

Edge intensity is the problem this size introduces. One central fixture lights the middle well and leaves the corners behind. Plants respond by growing unevenly rather than by dying, which makes it easy to miss. Two smaller fixtures spread along the cross-members fix it more reliably than one large one hung higher. Check the total hanging weight before committing, because the roof rating covers the lights, the filter and anything else that ends up on those rails. A filter mounted outside and ducted in is the usual answer, and it also gives back headroom that a heavy inline filter would otherwise steal. On airflow, treat the extraction as sized to the light load and the canopy rather than to the tent volume. The trade-off at this size is access. A square this wide means reaching back corners over a full canopy. There is no rear door on this model to help with that.
