The Growlink RJ12 Dimming Adapter Gives an RJ12 Fixture Cable a Place to Plug In
Plenty of grow light control cables end in a six-position RJ12 plug, the same size as an old phone jack. This adapter gives that plug a female RJ12 jack, so it connects to the Growlink digital lightLINK without cutting the fixture cable. The jack sits in a slim gray inline housing at the end of a short white lead. From the housing, the lead ends in two black wires with stripped, tinned tips. Those wires land in the lightLINK's 2-wire screw terminals. That keeps the factory cable whole for the next room. Growlink's own wiring guide shows several RJ12 fixture lines being cut and stripped straight into that terminal block. The adapter turns that into a plug-in job and leaves a clean point to disconnect a fixture for service. Once it is wired, GrowlinkOS sets intensity for the connected fixtures on that zone. Sunrise and sunset ramps, high-temperature dimming and adaptive intensity all reach the fixture through it.
Wiring an RJ12 Adapter Into the lightLINK Terminal Block
The wire sequence matters more than the plug, because RJ12 control pinouts differ across lighting brands. Match each lead to Growlink's wiring diagram for your fixture brand before tightening the terminals. If a light ignores commands after install, recheck the pair against the diagram before anything else. Zip-tie the inline housing to a rack upright or the module's rail so the jack is not hanging by its leads. Route the control cable apart from line-voltage wiring, since noise on a data line can make fixtures drift. Growlink recommends an LX5G digital isolator with Faven fixtures, whose floating power supply can feed noise back into the controls. High-temperature dimming needs a canopyLINK and a climaLINK registered to the same LINKS HUB. One digital lightLINK runs one lighting zone, so each zone gets its own module. The jack takes RJ12 plugs only, and an eight-position RJ45 plug will not fit it. Nothing on the part needs setting, and every schedule and limit lives in GrowlinkOS. Without a digital lightLINK and a LINKS HUB behind it, the jack is only a connector, so it fits rooms already on Growlink control.
Key Features
- RJ12 Fixture Jack: The six-position female jack takes the fixture's factory control cable without cutting it.
- Two-Wire Leads: Stripped, tinned ends go straight into the digital lightLINK's 2-wire screw terminals.
- Inline Housing: The slim body zip-ties to a rack upright or rail along the cable run.
- Digital lightLINK Pairing: Intensity commands from GrowlinkOS reach fixtures that connect over RJ12.
- Automated Light Control: Sunrise and sunset ramps, heat dimming and adaptive intensity carry through to RJ12 fixtures.
