The white coconut carbon block is a 4.5 x 20 in Big Blue cartridge of high-purity coconut shell activated carbon. It reduces chlorine, taste, odor, and certain VOCs, and the carbon block holds dirt well. Free chlorine breaks down TFC membranes over time, so this carbon stage protects the membrane downstream. It meets NSF Standard 42 at a 10-micron rating, handles up to 8 GPM, and runs from 40 to 180°F. Capacity reaches 34,000 gallons of chlorine reduction, or 17,000 gallons of RO water at a 1:1 ratio. The polypropylene build holds up in demanding grow rooms.

This cartridge fits the EX600-T, EX1000-T, EX4000-T, CX4000, XL Scrubber, and Sedi Scrub. Standard coconut carbon is built for chlorine and VOC reduction, not chloramine. If your city water is dosed with chloramine, or your well water carries iron and hydrogen sulfide, step up to the CF-4520-KDF instead. For chlorine and taste-and-odor cleanup, this block runs clean. Swap it at capacity, or sooner if a chlorine taste returns.
