When and How to Change the UV-6 Bulb
Plan to replace the lamp about once a year of continuous run, even if it still glows. UV intensity drops well before the bulb burns out, and weak UV lets organisms through. Wipe down the quartz sleeve when you change the lamp for full transmission. Handle the new bulb by the ends only. Skin oils on the glass cut UV output.
